Applications for the Muis Social Work Study Award (SWSA) NOW open from 30 August – 15 September 2019.

In partnership with LBKM, Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) will be awarding the Muis Social Work Study Award (SWSA) to eligible students pursuing social work and studies in the social service sector.

The SWSA is aimed at recognising and supporting the achievements and development of students pursuing studies in the field of social work and social service, who upon graduation, could contribute to the social development of the Muslim community. It is hoped that this award would encourage more students to embark on a meaningful career in the social service sector and contribute to uplift the community.

Award Details:

1. The Study Award would be a one-time study grant.

2. Recipients will not be required to serve bond with MUIS.

3. Students may apply annually, although priority will be given to first-time applicants.

Amount of Award:
1. Diploma – $5,000
2. Degree – $7,000
3. Graduate Diploma – $8,000
4. Masters – $9,000
3. PhD – $10,000

Eligibility:

1. Singapore Citizen OR a Permanent Resident who will take up Singapore citizenship before embarking on his/her studies.

2. Have good O/A level results or relevant diploma results or equivalent qualifications.

3. Candidates with strong track record in community work and possess excellent communication skills will be strongly considered.

4. Students undertaking part-time courses may apply.

Applicants must:

1. Gain admission to a;

(i) Diploma programme in Social Work or Social Service OR
(ii) Graduate Diploma programme in Social Work OR
(iii) Bachelor’s or Master’s programme (either local or overseas) for Social
Work

Programme must be recognized by the Singapore Association of Social Work accreditation board.

2. Upon graduation, express a strong commitment in contributing to the Malay Muslim community through research, involvement in community projects or pursue a career in social service.
